Labour in Post-War British Theatre

Post-war British theatre has given labour, where it happens and who performs it, visibility. Playwrights and theatre-makers such as Joan Littlewood and Arnold Wesker have created stories about workers on building sites, down mines, in factories, in warehouses and on farms.

This lecture explores the role British theatre has played in giving us a new understanding of the workplace, as well as workplace communities and the relationship workers have to their bosses and wider structures of employment.
