A panel discussion between Professor Richard Templer, Chris Hewett and Jan-Peter Onstwedder, chaired by Professor Michael Mainelli.
The panellists start by examining the role of different sectors in green investment, and looking at the problems caused by political instability, a short-termist and excessively complex financial system, and difficulties in scaling up from prototypes to more widely available technology. Questions are taken from the floor, with topics raised including the lack of clarity over what ‘green’ means, the possible use of quantitative easing and bond markets to support sustainable investment, and the need for systemic approaches rather than small-picture problem solving.
