Richard Smith OBE is the Executive Director of Gresham College. Prior to working at the College he was the Director of The Tank Museum in Bovington, Dorset where he led the organisation through £28m of capital development, doubled visitor numbers and enabled the Museum to become a global leader in online video.
Following a degree in history from Durham University, his early career was spent in the shipping industry where he spent eleven years in roles including marketing, operational management and e-commerce, working in the City of London, New York and Hong Kong.
Richard has held roles as a Director of the Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership as well as Chairing the Dorset Tourism Association. He has been a trustee of a number of charities and is a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers.
In 2018 he was appointed OBE for services to military heritage.
